Bedding Inspiration…. I need some.

Here is our bedroom.  Not much has changed since this picture was taken in November, but that we have dark gray sheets and bedskirt and a white duvet.  But its boring.  I love the rug, our dresser, and our lamps. But the bedding is such a snore.  Here’s some inspiration that’s helping me make some decions.

I love the monogrammed bedding bedding!  BUT for some reason, Josh doesn’t lay nicely on the bed.  It’s like he leaves his mark everytime he sits.  He’s like a puppy. (but in a handsome way). :)

This bedding bewlow with the hints of lilac and the stripe is UH-mazing.

Massucco Warner Miller designed the bedroom below.  My duvet never looks that full.  And I splurged on a good one for us!  What is the trick here?

The colors below are just beautful and I love how clean and well kept this look.

For the bedroom below, I like the layout of the pillows.  I think I need king size pillows.

And this last one – love the bedding, the mix of tonal colors and the softness.

Please do share what is on your bed and how you keep it from looking cluttery and messy!

Valentine’s Day Bark

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!

I made chocolate toffee bark for a few people in the office last night (and wrapped them up this morning) as well as made a few extra for Josh to take to work.  They are SO freakin’ good and SO easy to make  (meaning – my mom could probably handle this one).   Get the recipe here from Deep South Dish.     (It’s literally 5 ingredients).    They are a bit gooey, so I wrapped them in wax paper in layers, pulled them in plastic bags from the Paper Source, and then tied with vintage ribbon.

Wishing you a super sweet and wonderful Valentine’s Day!

xx, Hallie

A couple pics from 45 Three

After work today I popped into 45 Three on Fairfax (south of Wilshire Blvd. for those LA peeps) and of course they had great stuff, but nothing that’s on my list that I’m currently needing for my new digs.

If you live in the area you should totally stop in there.  They are having a sale and there are some really great pieces.

Here’s a few snaps I took.

World Market Has Pretty Much Everything

I’m convinced that World Market could be one of the greatest stores ever.  You’ve got food, wine, home decor accessories, furniture, serveware,  and wrapping paper all uner one roof!?  I mean… I don’t know about you, but this place is a total score.

Here are some of my favorite pieces on their website that I am totally into.

Peace Out Rexford Drive

I woke up this morning with a killer hangover.  awesome.

I also woke up to a serious ‘Get It Done’ list that needed to be taken care of before heading into the office.

So…. I totally putzed around instead.

Really?!

Anyway…. Now that I have gotten the complaining out of the way…. It’s time to say good bye to the old digs.  Oh I LOVED this apartment.  I have had some of the best girls nights EVER, an unreal holiday party, AND it was my first real place that I got to experiment with design.  It was such a good place.

Please excuse the crappy iphone shots….

This is the yellow mirror in my dining room.  You can see my drexel white  bamboo furniture and the lamps on the campaign dressers were a gift from my grandma.  I love them.  Spoke to her this morning and she asked me to not let the movers handle the lamps.  Love her!

Another view of the dining room.  (Again, pardon the crappy lighting).  I just repainted the table and chairs to a neat gray color that are coming to the new place with new upholstery.  I got the table and chairs at a great trift shop in East LA that unfortunately closed.   The rug was from Ikea and it didn’t make the cut for the new place.  The vintage bird fabric I got years ago at the Long Beach Flea Market.  There was only enough yardage to cover 2 chairs, so I mixed it with a solid turquoise.  Such a happy space.

Below is a better view of the lamps. I just sold the campaign dressers, but the bamboo mirror and lamps are coming to the new place.  This picture looks super vintagey-old. Weird.

And below…. another crapola shot.  But this would be my foyer.  I love the wall color.  Like I really love it.  I dont know what it is though.  I picked a shade at home depot off a paint chip and didn’t turn back!  Anyway… The Moroccan Wedding Blanket is from Calypso and I love all the sparkle.  I’m nervous to ask Josh about it… Maybe I should just casually place it SMACK in center  of the FOYER at the new place and maybe he won’t notice the sparklies.  Dear Lord!  Anyway… the Parsons Table.  So sick, right?!  I got the table and the pair of benches at Casa Victoria in Silverlake.  I obviously had to have the upholstery redone on the benches.  Good stuff.

So…. on that note….

Good bye Rexford Drive.  You’ve been so good to me and I love you for it!  Thanks for taking such good care of me!

xx,

Hallie

This post is going to be a bit different from the usual.  Pinterest is FULL of funny quotes and words to live by, so I thought I’d share my favorites with you.  Besides getting the best style and design inspirations from Pinterest, you can also get advice and inner motivation.  Creativity and positive thinking all in one place.  I like!

I mean.... REALLY!?

This couldn't be any more true for me!!! I always get the damn words wrong!

Ugh.... I get so homesick. Sometimes there is just no where else I'd rather be than with my mom.

How funny is this?! And so true!!

I hate how true this one is! If ya didn't care, you wouldn't be upset! Such a burn!

Stop making the same mistakes. Gotta learn, don't do it again, and move forward! This is so true!!

In a nut shell... Don't leave the house looking like a mess, put on lip gloss.... because you will run into a really hot guy at the grocery store.

Attention: All Boyfriends!! Read this!! xoxo

Words to live by! Amen.

Pin…Pin…Pinterest – Book Shelves

Happy Friday Lovelies!!

It’s been a little while since I’ve blogged! So sorry for the lack of posts, but over the next few days I definitely will have more posts coming.  My boyfriend is at the Sundance Film Festival and I am REALLY looking forward to a girl saturated weekend!  This means:  Hair color, girl’s dinner, shopping, manicure, blogging, chick flicks… Oh the list goes on.

I am also excited to share with you that I now have just over 1000 Pinterest followers!  Thank you so much for following me.  If you aren’t on Pinterest, please let me know and I can send you an invite!!  You will be hooked!

This week’s favorite pins are great book shelf set ups.  I am in the process of re-working the etagere in my living room, so of course I turn to Pinterest for inspiration.  Here is what has caught my eye so far! What I love about all of these images is that they are homey and real without looking messy.

I really like the dark take on this room with the pops of bright.

This room is completely right up my alley, such a great mix of vintage pieces.

Fab dining room. I love the idea of mixing a library feel with a dining/entertaining setting. This is so chic.

Cubbies filled with monochromatic schemes of color. It looks like boxes of solid colored jewels.

A perfect gradiation of shades. I call that a serious collection!

A beautiful room with a great shelf for storage without looking messy.

Matching etageres for books and fab curiosities.

My holiday party!

Well… I must say – the party was a success and I am thrilled!  I really didn’t take enough pictures and I am so disappointed about that. But, here is a glimpse of what the party looked like! I had so much help from my girlfriends and we had a really good time just setting up!

Prepping for a holiday party!

I spent a good part of the weekend prepping for my holiday party that I am having on the 17th.  I am pretty excited!

I’m going to try to post up my prep process as much as possible, so just to give you a messy sneak peak – I pulled out the leaf for my dining room table (there will be a table cloth) and scattered out my serving pieces to see how the buffet is going to all lay out.  It’s a good idea to lay out your serving pieces in advance to see what you are missing,  so that the day before your guests you aren’t running around like crazy looking for things.

My serving pieces are a combination that I think works really well.  The pair of three-tiered cake stands are from Bed Bath and Beyond that my mom found for me!  Sooo good, right?! (Thanks Ma!).

The white flat pieces are from Home Goods/TJ Maxx, and the white milk glass is all vintage pieces that I have been collecting from flea markets and antique malls.

I’ll be posting a lot more about the preparation for the party (decor, flowers, food, fashion….) – but here is a start!

I am throwing a party next Saturday night. I am so excited, but there is a ton to get done before hand.  So, for the next week there will definitely be a lot of posts about entertaining.  I am doing a large buffet bar of finger foods, and yummies – and here is my inspiration that I’ve pinned from my pinterest page.

Do you have any tricks up your sleeve for entertaining? Please feel free to share and leave a comment below! I’d love to hear about your fabulous fete!

Also – let me know if you need an invite to Pinterest.

I love the variation of heights used on this table. The suitcases give it a great vintage touch.

A feminine and sweet buffet set up.

How fun would a caramel apple buffet bar be?!? Love this idea!

This is such a beautiful way to make a salad bar. It's so fresh and vibrant with all of those colors.

I love this idea for for crudete and dips. This is something I definitely plan on having at my party.

Such a good idea for serving tequila (as long as you know all your guests drink it!!)

Love this vintage bar cart for entertaining! Useful, purposeful, and pretty!

A very clean an pretty appetizer buffet. I like the balance.
