Being lost in the jungle can be a very frightening experience, especially if you are lost and alone. Nevertheless, it is crucial that you stay calm and act objectively at all times. It will definitely not help going panic and acting irrationally, because every move you make is critical to your survival.

Shouting can help if the group you are travelling with is close by, or if you know theres a village or a rescue party in sight. Otherwise, this could cause more harm than good if there are man-eating animals close by. Survival Skills #1 – Fishing in The Jungle

The easiest way to fish in the jungle is by using a pronged fishing spear. You can easily make this using a piece of bamboo. Get a piece of bamboo that is about 6 feet long then cut one end to make 4 prongs.

Survival Skills #2 – Make a Solar Water Still

Dig a hole in the ground that is in direct sunlight then place an empty container. Place moist leaves around it and cover the hole with a plastic sheet over it with a small rock in the middle. This will direct the later condensed water into the empty container. Condensed water will form on the underside of the plastic sheet with time. And the accumulated condensed water will then drip into the empty container.

Survival Skills #3 First Aid

This is by far one of the most important skills set to have. Everybody knows what a first aid kit is right, but do you really know how to use the content the right way. For example, do you know how to tie a triangle band add around a person, or do you know how to use the CPR kit. Do you know CPR in the first place? These are simple skills that could mean the life and death for somebody who is in need. It may not seem obvious to most but you actually hold the power to save lives more than you know.

Survival Skills #4 Treat Burns

The basics in treating a first degree or a second degree burn is to first remove the victims clothing then run lukewarm water over the affected area. The other option for this treatment is to coat the burnt area with a coat of honey if that is available.

Survival Skills #5 Self Protection

What would you do if you are attacked by coyotes, cougar or wolves? While you see heroes beating up wild animals with their bare hands in the movies; that is not the best way to deal with them. The recommended way by The Boy Scouts is, to stand face to face the animal and then back away slowly. Play dead may work when you are facing a wild bear, but definitely not with other wild animals. If you find yourself cornered, do not to be scared and try to make yourself look as big as you can. You can do this by spreading your coat if you have one on, like wings.
